Give new life to old materials in this textile workshop that explores creativity and sustainability! Using reclaimed fabrics, offcuts, and found materials, you'll explore the art of fabric collage, drawing & painting on textiles, intuitive cutting, and mindful stitching.
Learn how to transform unwanted textiles into layered, tactile artworks that speak to environmental care and personal expression. Come ready to deconstruct, reconstruct, and discover the power of textiles as a medium for contemporary art and personal expression.
Materials Pass
No materials pass is required for this class
Materials to bring include:
- Reclaimed fabrics (old clothes, linens, fabric offcuts, scraps),
- Found materials (lace, trims, buttons, ribbons, threads old jewellery or necklaces)
- Acrylic, watercolour paints or inks (optional: paint pens , inktense or watercolour pencils or permanent pens)
- Sewing equipment: scissors, pins, Sewing needles and a selection of threads (cotton, embroidery, wool or other)
- A small hand-sewing hoop (optional, for easier stitching)
- Glue stick or fabric glue (optional for collage layout, pins and basting work as well)
- A base fabric to work on (e.g., calico, canvas, or an old tablecloth or pillowcase)
