Kids Holiday Art Programme 

Whether you are working, or just need a break, The Learning Connexion’s Kids Holiday Programme is timed just right to keep your kids happy, engaged and having creative holiday fun!

Our Holiday Programme is taught by two experienced and wonderfully creative tutors. Held at our vibrant Taita campus we provide children with an unforgettable authentic art school experience. We offer two different sessions each day of the school holidays.

Dates for the Holiday Programme: TBC

Week One: Monday 15th to Friday 19th January

Week Two: Tuesday 24th to Friday 26th January

Times: 9.30am - 12.30pm / 1.30pm - 4.30pm (attend one or both sessions)

Cost: $25 half day / $45 full day with a 1-hour lunch break fully supervised

Early drop off available from 8:30am - $5;
Late pick up available until 5:30pm - $5

Monday 15th

Pocket Pets

Students will learn the art of miniature model making using polymer clay. They will create miniature cakes, sushi charms and teeny weeny pets to take home and play with.

Best suited for 5-12 year-olds

Drawing for Beginners

In this class we will be looking at basic drawing skills using pastel, charcoal, pens and pencils. Learn how to shade, use colour and draw a variety of different landscapes, animals and people.
Best suited for 5-12 year-olds.

Tuesday 16th

 Soap Art

Create some colourful soap creations using soap moulds, glitter and delicious fragrances. You will also be learning some soap carving techniques. Take your soap creations home in a homemade box to use or give as a gift.

Bubble painting

Learn how to make fun puffy paintings and bubble art using shaving foam and dishwashing liquid. This is a messy hands on class for kids of all ages!

Best suited for 5-12 year-olds.

Stained Glass Art

Create a variety of different kinds of sun catchers including paper stained glass animals and creatures and a framed stained glass painting.

Chocolate Art

Create a variety of fancy chocolates to colour and take home in a handmade box to share with friends and family

Thursday 18th

Art that Moves

In this class students will learn how to create a variety of different moving art projects including clothespin puppets, fidget spinners, boats and planes. At lunchtime build and race your own paper plane or boat! This is a great class for kids who love moving projects.

3D Minecraft Selfies

Make yourself into a Minecraft character using paper craft art techniques. Learn about pixel art and 3D paper designing

Friday 19th

Dream Catchers

Do you sometimes have bad dreams? The Native American dream catcher was intended to protect the sleeping individual from negative dreams, while letting positive dreams through. Learn how to design, weave and decorate your own dream catcher to take home and catch your unwanted dreams.

Canvas Painting

Students will create their own canvas painting using shading, colour and brush techniques. This term we will be focusing on landscape painting and colour mixing

Tuesday 24th

Printmaking for Beginners

This is a great introductory printmaking class for kids of all ages. Students will learn a variety of new printmaking techniques including wipe back monoprint, linocut and gel plate.

Best suited 5-12 year-olds

T-shirt Screen Printing

Design a stencil and print your very own custom screen printed t-shirt.
Students must bring a plain T-shirt to print onto. We encourage students  to bring a few shirts to make multiple copies of their design.

Wednesday 25th

Design a Board game

Love playing board games? Ever wanted to make your own? Then this is the class for you! In this class students will learn how to design, decorate and play their own handmade games including making their own dice and spinners.

Best suited for 5-12 year-olds

Summer Watercolour Painting

Learn how to paint with watercolours and create some beautiful summer inspired paintings! Students will learn about colour tones, crayon resist and different watercolour techniques.

Thursday 26th

Glowing Nature Houses

Using natural materials students will create beautiful nature houses for the fairies or goblins in their garden. Glow in the dark paint will be used to make the houses glow at night.

Giant Outdoor Sculptures

Students will look at the work of Andy Goldsworthy, an artist famous for his use of photography in relation to sculpture and land art. In groups, students will create giant sculptures using found and recycled material as well as creating their own nature art to take home.

Friday 27th

Slime Art

Learn some slime science and get your hands messy! In this class students will learn how to create their own colourful glittery borax slime to take home and gross out their friends. This term we will be experimenting with some new kinds of slime including making some slime bouncy balls!

Outdoor Painting

Make the most of the great weather and come and get messy outdoors. Students will learn a variety of large scale painting techniques. They will work collaboratively as well as individually on their own paintings.
