Term 3 Kids Art Classes

We're back on campus for Term 3 2020!

After all the fun we had with our online classes, we are excited to be back on site for our next term of Kids Art Classes! Join us in Term 3 as we return to our normal timetable of fun, interactive classes.

Monday Art Class - Young Artists

Age: 6 to 10 years
Required materials: $30 for all materials provided in class
Term Fee: (10 weeks) of 2-hour classes $145 (including materials fee)
$10 discount for returning students
Maximum number of students per class: 15
Dates: Classes run from 20 July - 21 September
Tutor: Leda Farrow
Hours: 3.30 - 5.30pm
Location: Mixed Media 1

In this class, kids will create a variety of different art projects. Each week, there will be a different activity ranging from painting, drawing, printmaking, animation, sculpture, craft and more. Kids will learn new skills, gain confidence, play games and have loads of fun with our talented and dedicated tutor. Our classes aim to build self-confidence, develop skills in creative thinking, experimentation, spontaneity and help students to find their own creative voice.

This is a great class for younger artists and is focused on creative experimentation, play and self-expression. At the end of the term, students will be able to submit art for a group art exhibition.

Wednesday Art Class - Creative Clay

Age: 9 to 14 years
Required materials: $45 materials fee. This fee will include the cost of clay and a term firing fee
Term Fee: (10 weeks) of 2-hour classes $160 (including $45 materials fee)
$10 discount for returning students
Maximum number of students per class: 15
Dates: Classes run from  22 July - 23 September 2020
Tutor: Cynthia Castro
Hours: 3.30 - 5.30pm
Location: Mixed Media 1

Roll up your sleeves and prepare to get your hands messy! In this class kids will use stories, music and imagination as their inspiration while they work on a variety of different ceramic projects including pottery and fanciful sculptures.

Techniques may include, but are not limited to:

  • Learning about different types of clay from polymers, salt dough, paper clay and ceramics.
  • Learning basic clay methods including how to make pinch, slab and coil pots, ceramics, rolling cylinders, altering shapes and applying surface textures, stamps and colours.
  • Learning 3D modelling including sculpting and painting miniatures, 3D models, dioramas and unique sculptures.

Our classes aim to build self-confidence, develop skills in creative thinking, experimentation, spontaneity and to help students find their own creative voice.

This is a great class for kids who are more 3D focused and like to work with their hands. At the end of the term students will be able to submit art for a group art exhibition.

Thursday Class - Drawing, Painting and Creative Craft

Age: 9 to 14 years
Required materials: $30 for all materials provided in class
Term Fee: (10 weeks) of 2-hour classes $145 (including materials fee)

Dates: Classes run from the 23 July to 24 September 2020
Tutor: Leda Farrow
Hours: 3.30 - 5.30pm
Location: Mixed Media 1

In this class students will work on a variety of different creative projects that focus closely on and build more confidence with drawing and painting skills. Students are encouraged to develop their own art style, to experiment and try out different techniques.

Techniques may include, but are not limited to:

Portraiture, shading and realism, perspective drawing, canvas art, designing and drawing cartoons and characters, watercolour and acrylic painting techniques, pastel and collage, clay and sculpture, spray paint, and screen printing.

This is a great class for kids who want to practise more drawing and painting but like to work on a variety of different projects. At the end of the term students will be able to submit art for a group art exhibition.

Outcomes for all classes

Students will experiment with a variety of different mediums and techniques and find creative applications which connect with their own experience. Our classes aim to build self-confidence, develop skills in creative thinking, experimentation, spontaneity and help students find their own creative voice.
