Animal Farm with Nicky Roesink
About the class
Build a large animal (up to 40cm tall) using coiling and slab techniques. The animal can be real or imaginary!
In order to prepare for the class, we strongly recommend preparing a picture or drawing of an animal, and to think about how to construct it and support it. This will let you jump straight into creating.
Once formed, the animals will come to life using texture and slips. All work will be fired once (not glazed).
Please note: due to the larger size of the projects and the drying time needed before firing, it is expected that the fired work will able to be collected around week 6 of term 4 2025 (mid November)
Materials Pass
There is a $30 Materials Pass for this class. This covers 5 kg of Speckled Buff clay, slips and firing of your work.
What you need to bring
- Apron or old shirt
- Tools (if you have your own, please bring them)
- A photo or drawing of the animal you want to make
- If a special support for your build is required, please bring it with you
