Monday & Wednesday - Print Studio
Dive into the vibrant world of printmaking and watch your creativity come alive as you create your own unique designs. From gaining technical skills to experimenting with texture and color, you'll be challenged and inspired!
You'll learn the 4 different types of printmaking- monotype, relief, intaglio and screen-printing. There will also be extended tutorials covering additional techniques so you'll always be learning something new.
You'll learn how to work with a variety of different materials to create images to print on various surfaces such as paper, fabric etc.
Your Toi Kaiako will also help you develop problem-solving skills, so you can troubleshoot and refine your work if it goes in an unexpected direction!
By the end of the term you’ll have a portfolio of unique prints and the confidence to continue your printmaking journey.
Class Materials
You will need:
Your visual diary & pencil case and inspiration for your projects
We also recommended that you bring a craft knife, soft pencils(4B &6B), permanent markers and / or paint, pens and paper

* Permaset paste base
* Tempera paints
* A5 plastic plate for dry point
* A5 Mdf boards for woodcut
* 2 x A2 wet strength cartridge paper
* Some photocopying – (reference materials)
* Brown paper, photocopy paper, tissue paper.
* Screen printing emulsions and application tools
* Emulsion stripper, screen degreaser.
* Cyanotype chemicals.
* Use of brayers (ink rollers) up to A4 size
* Use of screens and squeegees
* Use of dry-point tools and woodblock/lino cutters
* Use of class kit of scissors, rulers, stanley knives, tapes etc
* Use of 2 Etching presses
* Use of Cyanotype printing kits

As well as the Materials Pass, you'll need to buy additional materials to print with and materials to print on, depending on your individual projects.
