Celebrating Creativity: TLC’s Open Day & Lower Hutt Art Trail
The Learning Connexion has recently enjoyed two major creative events - our Open Day on 22 November, and our participation in the Lower Hutt Art Trail on 18 & 19 October. Both events brought incredible energy to our campus and offered the community a chance to step inside our studios, meet our artists, and experience the vibrant creative culture that defines TLC.

What began as a refuge during a difficult time grew into a lifelong passion for art, connection, and self-expression. Receiving the Janet Law Scholarship reinforced her commitment to her creative journey and gave her the confidence to keep growing as an artist. Her time at The Learning Connexion shows the power of trusting the process and following where creativity leads.

At our graduation ceremony, student speaker Airdre shared her inspiring journey of how creativity and study at The Learning Connexion became a pathway to health, wellbeing, and self-discovery. Her speech, “Art as Medicine: My Creative Adventure at The Learning Connexion,” beautifully captures the transformative power of art and the courage to embrace creativity as a way of life.
A creative outlet: Serra Clark
Serra Clark joined The Learning Connexion in 2019 and has found her time with TLC has been a creative outlet after baby loss.
Serra is based in Kapiti and initially studied with us through our Distance Learning programme and now attends classes onsite part-time.
