Restricted Programmes Exhibitions
Creative Voices: Art from the Inside
Exhibitions from The Learning Connexion’s Restricted Programmes
These exhibitions at TLC's LAB Gallery showcase the artwork of students participating in The Learning Connexion’s Restricted Programmes (RP), which deliver NZQA-accredited creative education in correctional facilities across Aotearoa.
Our akonga work closely with their TLC Creativity Kaiako; communicating by phone and mail to share ideas and explore their creative process. These programmes provide a powerful outlet for self-expression, reflection, and personal growth through art.
Each piece displayed here is a testament to the resilience, creativity, and transformation of individuals engaging with their creative potential. Through painting, drawing, sculpture and more, these artists explore their stories and reconnect with their sense of identity and purpose.
We invite you to celebrate their achievements, share in their journeys, and witness the impact of creativity behind the wire.
These exhibitions are an opportunity for the Restricted Programmes students to publicly share their work with staff, students, family, friends, and the community beyond.
Some works within our RP exhibitions are for sale, with all profits going back into The Learning Connexion Educational Trust, a not-for-profit organisation.
Our next Restricted Programmes exhibition 'Watching Sky' will be open 30 June- 25 July 2025
Our LAB Gallery is open Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm
The Learning Connexion, 182 Eastern Hutt Road, Taita, Lower Hutt.
