Letting Go: An exhibition by our Level 6 Diploma students

Now showing in the LAB Gallery until Friday 4th September.  What happens when you give yourself permission to stop worrying about whether your work is “good enough” and simply create?

Letting Go is an exhibition by our Diploma in Creativity (Level 6) students, exploring the relationship between creativity and the inner critic – that voice of doubt, perfectionism and self-judgement that can sometimes hold us back.

What would you create if your inner critic became your biggest supporter? What if that voice encouraged the ideas you love, the ideas you have been wanting to explore and the work you have been longing to make?

What if it believed that your art was exactly what you, or someone else, needed to experience right now, or something they might cherish for a lifetime?

For Letting Go, students have considered the ways they move beyond their inner critic, or perhaps learn to make friends with it, in order to create. They have explored what happens when doubt, perfectionism and self-judgement are given less power, allowing curiosity, experimentation and ideas to take the lead.

This exhibition shares the work the students have created, the ideas that called to them and the many ways they have responded to and worked alongside their inner critics.

We hope you enjoy viewing Letting Go and gain an insight into each artist’s creative journey.
