New Zealand Certificate in Creativity
(NZQA Level 4) 60 credits
This qualification is a hands-on, practical programme for those with little or no practical experience, and/or those who wish to widen their creative practice and build key skills.
The programme is a structured introduction to a wide range of art and creativity ideas and applications. You’ll gain foundation skills in creativity, including the ability to explore ideas in a range of styles and media. In essence, Level 4 is about exploring your creative practice.
Summary of Programme
Duration: 20 weeks (full-time), 40 weeks (part-time) including vacation weeks
Expected hours: 35 hours/week (Full time = 24 hours tutor/mentor directed study, 11 hours independent study), 17.5 hours/week (Part time = 12 hours tutor/mentor directed study, 5.5 hours independent study)
Delivery: On-site, Distance Delivery (study from home) or Blended Learning (study from home and onsite)
Start Dates: Onsite students may start either at the beginning of Term 1 in February, or at the beginning of term 2, 3 or 4, Distance Delivery or Blended learning students may start on the 1st, 4th or 7th Monday during term time and at other times upon request.
All students need to work for nine weeks, and may take a three-week break. Students must advise their mentor or Programme Support of their decision for planning purposes.
Students whose enrolment crosses the end calendar year will be required to resume independent study early in January. The date for resuming study will be provided at the time of enrolment.
Students who enrol and start the NZQA Level 4 Certificate programme full-time and on-site in term 4 will be required to attend a block class in late January - more information will be provided upon enrolment.
Commitment and the ability to maintain studies are key prerequisites for all of our qualifications, Students enrolling into the Certificate in Creativity (Level 4) programme do not need to have any art experience or prior qualifications.
