Illustration

Wednesday – T2.36

Bring your ideas to life as you explore a range of illustration topics with step‑by‑step guidance and demos from your Toi Kaiako.

In Term 3, we’ll focus on drawing the figure in space. Learn how to build figures from simple geometric shapes (inspired by Andrew Loomis and Burne Hogarth) before developing your skills in one-, two-, and three-point perspective. Beginners can take a fun, stylised approach, while advanced students can work towards more detailed, realistic scenes.

You’ll build confidence drawing faces, figures, and characters, while tackling key concepts like perspective and foreshortening. Classes are mainly pencil and paper (digital devices are welcome too), with structured exercises, personal projects, and tailored feedback.

This class is recommended for anyone wanting to strengthen their figure drawing, character design, and visual storytelling skills.
