Box-making | Term Two, 2024

Over the week, you will make a simple lidded box, and learn how to adapt the skills you learn for other projects. You will have the option of making round and/or square boxes.
You will become familiar with the tools needed to measure and score metal, and will discuss with your peers and tutor how to insert your own creativity into your project.
Suitable for students with at least a term of general jewellery-making experience.

Content

* Make basic lidded boxes, and learn how to adapt these core skills to create your own project by saw-piercing, stone or enamel setting, or adding hinges and/or clasps.
* Learn how to make scoring tools for use in making square boxes

Objectives

• Complete a finished lidded metal box
• Expand your repertoire of metalworking skills
• Be creative when considering design features

Outcomes

• Develop and expand your creative processes
• Experiment with new tools
• Participate in discussions about further applications of these skills
• Creativity Projects you will be able to work towards include, but are not limited to: Level 4 - CP1 Investigate, CP4 Explore Level 5 - CP1 Challenge, CP3 Apply, CP4 Identify
