Pasha Clothier

Level 7 Mentor

Pasha Ian Clothier bio pic 2020 04 portrait

Pasha Clothier’s artwork is orientated around the idea that all things are interconnected, which in Aotearoa New Zealand is part of Māori and Polynesian worldview. In Western science and philosophy, this is called integrated systems, the concept of rhizome, and network theory. A hybrid Polynesian, Pasha is an eighth generation descendant of Hitiaurevareva, tracing nine lines of matrilineal descent to Tahitian ahu (tapa) makers Vahineatua and Mauatua. This heritage, along with acknowledging Meralda Warren and the Ahu Sistas, are acknowledged as important to heart, mind, soul and art.
