Outdoor Sculpture - MM3 & wider school campus

About the class
It's summer, let's get outside! This Makers Week is all about creating sculptures designed to withstand the elements
The Learning Connexion campus has many natural 'plinths' (tree stumps, concrete foundations etc) which are ideal for outdoor sculpture installations. Design a piece to display onsite, or make something to take home & enjoy in your own environment.
Could it be a group project? If you want to create a larger piece, you may find working in a team is the best way to get the job completed in the timeframe. You might also prefer to work alone, either option is fine.
The materials you choose will determine how long your piece will withstand the elements. Natural found materials (leaves, sticks, branches etc) are welcome, knowing they'll eventually break down and return to Papatuanuku. This is an opportunity to think as big as you like but factor in the time constraints.
It'd be great to see some finished pieces at the end of the week, possibly installed around the campus for all to enjoy!
Note: Because you may be out around campus using tools during this class, it's for students with some experience
Materials Pass
No material pass is needed for this class
What you need to bring
Come prepared with an idea in mind and relevant materials gathered
Bring any materials you may like to work with ... wooden pallets, bits of rusty metal ... whatever you have lying round at home that you think may be useful.
Also consider what fixings you may need, such as screws and nails. Most tools will be provided, but if you have your own drill etc., feel free to bring them along, just so you're not having to wait to use equipment and can maximise your time.
You might also want to prepare by talking people you'd like to work with on a project together, but most of all, come ready to have some creative fun!
