Collaborative Screen Printing - Printroom

Marci page

About the class

Come and explore the creative potential of using screen printing as an image creation process!

We'll discuss the design process when working collaboratively, and introduce you to photo stencil screen printing. Your Toi Kaiako (tutor) will demonstrate how to draw a repeat pattern on Photoshop as well as by hand.

You'll create an outline design of at least 3 graphic variations to share with the class. Then we'll mix & match them with different colours, inks and surface combinations to create a series of pieces. You can choose what to print on - fabric, paper or wood are all good!

You'll discover the full screen printing process, from how to prepare the screen through to printing an image. We'll also investigate how to mix ink, and adjust its colour and opacity, and look into various print registration methods.

In this Makers Week, there's lots of time for hands-on experimentation! What can you create when you share your designs and work with other artists...?
