Irish-born Leah Creaven is a textile artist, tufting beautiful large-scale rugs and running punch needle workshops in the Wairarapa region. “I’ve always believed art to be an integral part of the home,” she says. “It’s my aim to create something that’s not only functional but is viewed as art too. Art isn’t always hung up on the walls.”

Class Size: 12 (max number of students per class)

Fee: $220 (choose either the 1 July or 8 July class)

Class Description

Discover a modern approach to rug hooking in this Punch Needle workshop. The art of needle punching has taken the world by storm in recent years and is often referred to as painting with wool. One big reason to love punch needle: it’s so versatile! There are a wide variety of things to create, from canvas wall hangings and floor rugs to pillows, fashions products and more. Suitable for all levels.

What materials will be needed?

A3 paper, paints / colouring pencils, paint brushes, black markers.
