Sculpture - Cut, Cast, Mould, Melt | Term One, 2023

Melt things, model forms, make moulds and grind stuff.
Use clay, glass, rock, cement or latex.
Make stuff. Have fun.
Create art.
Work from Monday's Hot Arts class can be continued in this one.
Students who choose to work with clay should have attended the beginner's ceramics class, or equivalent.
Maximum cast glass weight is 2 kg per project.
Suitable for all levels.


* Introductions and best practice guidelines explained
* Individual and group discussions and demonstrations about specific processes which are relevant to your ideas and project
* Move ideas into action using processes, instructions and your own curiosity within best practice guidelines
* Observe other processes being undertaken as classmates develop their projects in a variety of media. Gain insight for future ideas you may wish to try out yourself
* Suggestions provided of artists of relevance to your own work who you may wish to research
* Refine ideas, skills, and your working knowledge of your materials as your project develops

Required Materials:
This is dependent on your project. Feel free to discuss with your tutor prior to class. There is a kiln firing and glaze materials fee for those using glass or clay and a small charge for students using the wet cut tools extensively.
