Monday – Hot Arts Studio
Explore the fiery world of working with metal in our Hot Arts practical classes
These hands-on sessions guide you through the process of designing and creating original metalworks, combining artistry with craftsmanship. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced maker, this practical class will guide you through the process of designing and creating artwork in metal.
You might begin by sculpting and refining designs, preparing them for sand or bronze casting through traditional and sand casting techniques. Or perhaps you’ll start by gaining experience in using a forge to create functional and artistic metal objects, such as knives, handles, or sculptures.
From mastering technical skills to honing your creative vision, you’ll work in a supportive environment, tackling every step of the process. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced maker, this course will challenge and inspire, leaving you with a collection of finished works and a deep appreciation for these time-honored arts. Welding is also available to students with prior experience.
Your Toi Kaiako will guide you through the essential Health and Safety guidelines for keeping yourself and your workspace safe while working with these extraordinary media.
