Summer Skills is a two-week event running 18 to 29 January 2021 that will take your skill set to new levels in painting, figurative sculpting, felting, mosaics, jewellery enamelling or leatherwork. It comprises of seven specialised boutique classes run by experts in their fields and utilises the Learning Connexion’s studio resources based in the beautiful native bush near Taita Gorge in the Hutt Valley – a great location for Summer.

“Our inaugural Summer Skills earlier this year was a big success. We had a lot of feedback requesting more classes, so we’ve obliged,” says Kiran Gandhi, Marketing team leader at The Learning Connexion. “We are excited to welcome some great renowned talent, including figurative sculptor Javier Murica, felter Sabin Imhasly and mosaics artist Rachel Silver”.

“In addition, we have two incredibly skilful painting tutors, Gary Freemantle and Justine Turnbull. We also welcome back leather craftsman Tim Mills, and jewellery enamelling specialist Sally Laing, who were both part of our first Summer Skills.”

With twice the choice on offer this year, there is something for everyone, providing a rare chance to learn some wonderful old-school techniques with a contemporary twist. The classes are suitable for beginners and those wanting their skills tested. Don’t miss the opportunity to make a treasure you’ll value for a lifetime and create a summer memory you’ll want to share with friends and family.
