A collection of 75 documentaries and artist profiles created by The Learning Connexion School of Art and Creativity have been accepted into the archives of Nga Taonga Sound and Vision for preservation.
The Learning Connexion’s in-house media team has been creating video resources for students for over twenty years. It started with filming classroom sessions and it now includes documentaries on practising artists from all over the country.
“We are delighted that our documentaries are getting archived. They are a glimpse of the creative scene here in Wellington and in the rest of New Zealand and Nga Taonga are preservation experts,” says TLC Media and Resource Production Coordinator Vanessa Patea.
2013 Astrophotographer of the year Mark Gee and award winning quilter Anna Prussing are amongst the artists profiled in the videos.
Nga Taonga, the NZ Archive of Film, Television and Sound collects and preserves film and video of cultural significance to New Zealand’s history.
The documentary collection will be carefully preserved for future generations of New Zealanders and selected videos will be publicly viewable free of charge from their Media Library.
