A Jewel of The South - Scholarships Open in October

Facebook Like Button

Every year The Learning Connexion offers scholarships to prospective students interested in our Art and Creativity programmes.

Courtney Jamieson first visited our campus with a friend who was studying here.

She had previously enrolled in another tertiary education but found it wasn’t for her.

When she entered our jewellery studio she was immediately fascinated and couldn’t resist the opportunity to create her own works of art.

Courtney enrolled in our Diploma programme with the goal of learning the skills to run her own business.

he was awarded the Oriel Hoskin scholarship to help with her studies.

Courtney went on to complete all of our programmes and she now lives in Christchurch where she has created Courtney Marama Jewellery from her home studio.

Her line of jewellery is all handmade and uses recycled materials and packaging. She wants her jewellery “…
to leave a small footprint on the earth but a big footprint in your soul.”

Courtney says her vision at Courtney Marama Jewellery is to produce high end, modern jewellery in an ethical way and demonstrate a responsible attitude towards the environment and her heritage, Māori culture.
