Accounts Officer

We are seeking a warm, friendly and multi-skilled accounts superstar to work 5 days per week (35 hours) at our Taita campus in the Hutt Valley.

This is a key role at The Learning Connexion and requires an experienced and dedicated individual who is able to work self-directed, as well as in a team setting. Workplace experience of at least 2 years in a medium to large company is essential, as is an ability to use MYOB Payroll, Infusion, Xero, Google Drive and Outlook. The position may also involve data entry, accounts preparation, banking and financial reporting. Experience in the tertiary education sector area will be advantageous.

The role consists of 35 hours per week (7 hours per day), worked five days a week.

Roles and tasks include:

  • Administration of purchase orders
  • Preparing and processing 20th of the month
  • Company credit card reconciliations
  • Manage all aspects of receivables
  • Fees and payments processing
  • Credit Control
  • GST & PAYE
  • Preparing student protection attestations
  • Produce monthly management reports
  • Overseeing two part time accounts staff
  • Financial audit and end of year reporting
  • Cashflow reporting
  • Liaison with key departments and external accountant

Restricted Programmes Mentor

Excited about education and supporting students to be their best? A unique and rewarding vacancy has just opened at The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art and this could be your chance to launch into a role that really makes a difference.

We need a naturally friendly, supportive and dedicated person to join our Restricted Programmes team as an arts and creativity mentor. The core function of the role is to provide mentoring support to distance students who are enrolled in our tertiary level art and creativity courses while based in Corrections facilities throughout New Zealand. On any given day you may be providing feedback on students' artwork, overseeing students' creative progress, assessing if a student has met their programme requirements, or motivating students to move to the next phase of their course. You will also be required to maintain an up-to-date database of student information. Please note: This is not a therapy or personal coaching role. Our focus is strictly arts-based.

To be successful in this role you will need to enjoy working in a close-knit team and have a strong visual arts practice. A tertiary level qualification in a visual arts field (or equivalent experience) is required and it's important that you are passionate about creativity and the arts. Any teaching experience is an advantage.

The position is located at our campus in Lower Hutt, however visits to Corrections sites with other Restricted Programmes staff may be required on a case by case basis (full training will be given).

  • Motivate and guide a group of students of diverse abilities, locations, and communication preferences
  • Provide meaningful and engaging feedback on students' work by a method best suited to their needs, e.g. phone, written
  • Oversee students' creative progress and communicating in an open, supportive and transparent manner
  • Assess if a student is meeting programme requirements

This role is for 35 hours per week; the days worked are negotiable. Shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo a Police check.
