Celebration of Creativity
Opening event: 5pm - 8pm Thursday 24 June
Open to public from 9.30am - 2.30pm Friday 25 June
The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art – 182 Eastern Hutt Road, Taita, Hutt City
The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art is reinventing its end-of-term exhibition, with a two-day celebration that will showcase the breadth of talent at the school.
Opening on Thursday 24 June at TLC’s Taita campus, A Celebration of Creativity will allow visitors to not just see the works of art, but interact with the artists and discuss the artistic process itself. “This event will have the added flair of students showcasing their creativity in their own unique and individual way,” says coordinator Dan Wilkinson.
With a new exhibition space currently being built at the school, a new approach was needed to cater for TLC’s growing roll of onsite and distance students.
“As each student feeds off each other whilst installing their creativity in the space, it allows a natural collaborative process which creates an exciting spontaneity of presentation to occur,” says Dan.
The showcase will feature work from students studying levels 4 through 7, and for many, it will be their first time sharing their work. “It's a great opportunity to speak to people about what excites them about their creative practice. We encourage showing process works, experiments and keeping things as informal as possible.”
The opening event will run between 5 - 8pm, and include a Kids Art display – as well as a few other surprises.
