Part-time study

Part time courses give you the opportunity for an intense and sustained period of learning without the need to withdraw from paid employment and other commitments. All of TLC 's art and creativity programmes are available to part timers. You can join weekend and evening classes as well as the day classes. You can also use the video library and cover the same sessions as extramural students.

Planning your schedule
Whatever the challenges, there are things that you can do to make your study successful and we are here with ideas and support.

Once you begin the creative journey it is your own motivation and commitment that will see you through. Remember that the course is flexible. How you adapt it to fit your lifestyle is up to you!

Within the scope of your particular course requirement you can attend any of the scheduled courses, including weekends and evenings, provided space is available. There is no extra tuition cost to enrolled students (any advertised fee applies only to members of the public).

Part-time students liaise with Programme Support to create a suitable balance of daytime, evening and weekend classes that will form the core of your course. Expected attendance is 5 sessions a week.

Supplementing your classes
Videos of the various courses we offer from Foundation through Stage 2 can be borrowed free of charge from our AV department.

The TLC AV department create the video resources for extramural students. They also gather interesting programs off TV as well as making short programs about items of interest onsite.

These are available for loan to all students from the student Video Library. Tapes we have include the whole EM program, various tapes of classes such as drawing, painting, printmaking etc, documentaries about New Zealand and International artists as well as a few on ex TLC students, and a few other items of interest like the 2003 Staff/Tutor show, the end of year Masterclass exhibition, and the Orpheus Opera collaboration with Victoria and Massey universities.
