Study Options for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Students

The Learning Connexion is proud to be able to offer their programme to Deaf and Hearing Impaired people.

Students can study full time or part time to fit in with their lives.

Onsite study option

TLC employs a full time communicator whose primary role is to ensure effective communication between tutors and Deaf students.
Our campus offers purpose built studios for Printmaking, Jewellery, Design, Screen Printing, Photography, Video and Computer Graphics, Stone Sculpture, Hot Arts such as Bronze Casting, and more!

Study from Home option (Distance Delivery)

Students can study the course from home anywhere in the world.
TLC offers Deaf and Hearing Impaired students “visual notes” that accompany the captioned course DVDs.
The visual notes explain each activity in straight forward English and are illustrated with examples of students' work.
Deaf students receive written feedback from their tutors.

New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL)

TLC is genuinely interested in Deaf Culture and is proud that NZSL is now recognised as an official language.
Many staff and students are learning NZSL through free lunchtime classes onsite.
